Expansion Board PCM05 - Vintage Archives |
ACCEPTED IN:
Triton/Rack/Studio, Karma |
An amazing collection of vintage keyboard,
synth and drum machine samples from yesteryear including sounds from many
gone-but-not-forgotten models made by the most famous manufacturers of their
era. This option board includes 158 multisamples, 56 drum samples, and 128
programs and 128 combinations. The PCM data has also been recorded from many
classic KORG models such as the mini KORG 700S, 800DV, MS20, POLYSIX,
Mono/Poly, and Delta, as well as from many other classic domestic and foreign
synthesizers. The data includes the original waveforms as well as sounds
utilizing each instrument's unique filter and EQ. The total of 158 multisamples
also includes waveforms from "strings machines," vocoder, and even
(in a first for KORG) rare tape-mechanism sample playback keyboards. You also
get 56 drum samples that include vintage rhythm boxes.
The 128 programs bring you that authentic vintage sound that
captures every detail of the original, including the inimitable sense of
presence unique to these classic instruments. You have immediate access to
great sounds for a wide range of music styles; the brass and pad sounds that
you need for dance music; lead, synth-string, synth-brass, and synth-voice
sounds for rock and pop; and even those unforgettable flute/string sounds from
a tape-mechanism sample playback keyboard. The combination programs provide
numerous and unique possibilities that were impossible on the original analog
synth itself, such as layered sounds or rhythm arpeggio + drum kit sounds.

Expansion Board PCM06/07 - Orchestral
Collection |
ACCEPTED IN:
Triton/Rack/Studio, Karma |
Unlike previous PCM expansion cards, the Orchestral
Collection is actually a two-card set; adding a staggering 32Mbytes of sample
data. These sounds have been carefully selected from the internationally
acclaimed Peter Siedlaczeks Advanced Orchestra collection by
Best Service corporation of Germany.
In addition to the 193 PCM multisamples stored on the expansion boards;
this collection also includes a floppy disc containing 256 programs and 256
combination programs that utilize these samples to their fullest. The floppy
disc also provides data for 8 new drum kits and 32 arpeggio patterns.
Not merely a collection of instruments, EXB PCM 06/07 has been assembled and
created to capture all the elements of an orchestral performance. Solo
instruments have been sampled in stereo to preserve ambience; and have been
sampled with a natural, players vibrato, preserving the character of the
original performance. String ensemble and sections, as well as individual
string instruments, are presented in stunning clarity. Orchestral percussion
and a selection of harp programs complete this collection.
Strings
A true 38-piece string section was used in creating the ensemble material.
Violins (14), violas (10), cellos (8) and contrabasses (6), perform in
traditional ensemble, pizzicato, and tremolo playing styles, all captured in
true position stereo. Quartet string ensembles are also featured, as well as
the individual solo instruments. In addition to the instrument samples, this
collection also includes a variety of phrase samples. These phrase
samples provide a new level of realism, offering performance elements that
would be impossible to re-create otherwise. From simple run-ups and flourishes
to hits, chords, arpeggios and ensemble phrasing (in major and minor keys!),
everything needed to re-create every aspect of a symphonic performance is
provided.
Brass & Woodwinds
As with the strings, solo instruments here (including oboe and English horn)
are faithfully preserved both with and without a natural performance vibrato. A
wide range of solo orchestral instruments is provided here, including
Contra-bassoon, bassoon, bass clarinet, clarinet, alto flute, and flute. Brass
instruments are delivered up with rich, brilliant character. Tuba, trombone,
French horn, trumpet and even a piccolo trumpet (can you say Penny Lane?) round
out the brass offerings. Ensemble sections (stereo) capture trumpets (3),
French horns (4), trombones (3), flutes (3) and clarinets (3) playing in a
variety of fashions. Percussion In keeping with the orchestral theme, the
percussion offerings highlight a wide array of mallet and tuned (marimba,
xylophone, vibraphone, and tubular bells) instruments. Bass drums, snares,
tympani, triangle, gong and other orchestral percussion instruments are also
well represented. To add that final essence of orchestra to your performance, a
vast palette of harp and harp phrases (including various types of glissandos,
arpeggios and plucked chords) are available in this collection as well. |

EXB MOSS Expansion Board |
ACCEPTED IN:
Triton/Rack/Studio, Karma |
The TRITON/KARMA series can be expanded by the
installation of the ultimate DSP tone generator - the 13 oscillator 6-voice
MOSS (Multi-Oscillator Synthesis System) tone generator featured on the Z1.
This lets you use all synthesis methods - PCM, analog, VPM (variable phase
modulation), and physical modelling - on a single instrument. When the MOSS
tone generator is installed, 128 MOSS programs are added. You can create
combination programs that use multiple MOSS timbres together with HI sounds.
The MOSS sound generator consists of Voice, EG and LFO sections. The voice
section contains 2 powerful oscillator blocks, OSC1/OSC2, which let you combine
up to 2 of 13 types of oscillator algorithm (resonance, organ model, electric
piano model, standard, ring modulation, VPM, brass model, reed model and more),
a sub oscillator, and a noise generator. The voice section also contains a
filter block featuring two multi-mode filters that cover the range from analog
synth sounds to complex sounds such as the body resonance of violin or guitar,
or even human voice . To this are added 5 EG units and 4 LFO units, providing a
rich variety of tonal and pitch changes for each voice.
MOSS SPECIFICATION
