Piano Section

The Nord Stage 2 Compact Piano section has evolved, featuring state-of-the-art sampling techniques the Stage 2 pianos capture the extraordinary nuances and real character of the real thing. These sound enhancements combined with intelligent String Resonance, that reproduces the sound of the piano strings resonating at their fundamental or harmonic frequencies when other strings are played, and compatibility with the optional Nord Triple Pedal that adds Dynamic Pedal Noise – the result is breathtaking realism and an unsurpassed expressiveness.

NEW Piano Feature

Nord have introduced a new piano release function. This adds a little more release time to the original piano sample, perfect for legato playing where you need the notes to run smoothly into each other without over doing it with the sustain pedal.

Organ Section

The organ section of the Stage 2 Compact is derived from the popular Nord C2 organ. Full drawbar control provided by the touch of a button and highlighted with LEDs so they can be seen on any stage. Considered by many to be the best B3 emulation the Nord Stage 2 organ model is based on the analysis of the signals from each of the 91 spinning discs inside several original instruments and painstaking work on understanding exactly how all the components interact with each other. The virtual circuitry reacts not only to the settings on the panel but also during the real time performance. The sound can be enhanced even further with the rotary speaker emulation, amp drive, reverb and more.

Not only is the B3 Emulation incredible but Nord have loaded the Stage 2 compact with two of the most famous transistor organs from the 1960’s, the Vox Continental and the Farfisa Compact. In terms of control, “Draw buttons” and LED bar graphs have replaced the original mechanical drawbars. This gives you the advantage of always having the correct drawbar settings after changing preset. For Organ sounds only, the Nord Stage 2 keybed is programmed to respond at its highest trigger position, resulting in authentic feel even with the weighted keys.

Synth and Sample

Capable of classic analogue synthesis, three operator FM synthesis, Wavetable synthesis the Nord Stage 2 synth is more than capable of producing some serious sounds. Sounds can be modified with resonant filters, effects, ADSR control and more. The synthesis engine is born from the famous Nord Wave and as a new feature Nord have added 2 extra sections:Arpeggiator and Sample playback.

The arpeggiator can be easily synced to the Nord Stage 2 compact Master Clock for perfect timing with other elements of the Stage 2, including its effects! There are UP, Down and Random combinations in the arpeggiator to choose from and control is easily accessed via the top panel controls.

The Stage 2 Compact now has the biggest expansion to their stage range ever - access to the huge free library of world-class sounds, including the famous vintage Mellotron and Chamberlin samples previously only available to Nord Wave and Nord Electro 3 users! It really opens up the Nord Stage 2 potential and range of customers who before could not get access to normal string sounds, guitars etc. You may even load your own samples in through the Nord Sample Editor for Mac or PC.

Effects section

The Nord Stage 2 Compact effects section has a huge variety of effects to hand, each with independent control adjustments and easily adjusted through the front panel. There are 3 main effect section and a master effects section for Reverb and compressor. Nord have included a range of powerful effects such as Wah, delays, Chrous, flanger, phaser, delays and more! Sounds are much more complete with added effects and the Nord Stage 2 delivers plenty.
