The Nord stage was chosen this year as the best portable stage piano for the third year in a row at the MIPA awards ceremonies. The Stage Compact uses exactly the same sound technology but with a non weighted 73 note action for portability.

Nord Stage Compact - award winning technology

Winning the awards at the MIPA this years was the Nord Stage. Nord won the award for one reason, the product is tremendous. There is nothing that sounds like it, has the live and instant control, looks like it or has the same portability. The Stage Compact Piano houses a 73 note semi-weighted keyboard with only the sounds that you need and not the daft gadgets you don't need.

A truly Amazing Sound Source

The Nord Stage Compact has a 73 note semi-weighted waterfall action. This means the key edges are slightly rounded so you can slide on the keys very easily which is superb for the funky and jazz piano/ organ riffs. Even though it is not fully weighted the waterfall keyboard offers a superb feel and touch which works very well with the piano sounds and keeps the Stage Compact portable! The main piano sound on the Stage Compact is taken from a C7 concert grand which was specially miked up and set-up for the sole purpose of creating a piano sound that simply betters everything else. Nord have achieved this and the result is stunning. Even though this is a compact piano the mighty sounds of the C7, Steinway, Classic E.Pianos and upright pianos are shockingly stunning.

As well as acoustic pianos the Nord Stage Compact contains a versatile collection of stunning electric piano sounds. Recorded and modelled on the original classics, the E. Pianos contain MK1 and 5 stage pianos, Wurli and Clav sounds. These can be processed through the amazing Amp effects section and you end up with a stunning rough edge biting sound. If you fancy an easy going 'Stevie Wonder' style piano then no problem. All your settings can be stored into user memories for recall at the touch of a button.

The Nord Stage Compact piano also houses a drawbar organ section. Taking sounds from classic organ such as B series, Vox and Farfisa you will never have heard an organ like it. Drawbar control is offered with buttons which are fast and instant and are displayed in rows of LED lights which are perfect for on-stage use. The drawbars even work like the original organs from the Farfisa and Vox which operated slightly differently. Trust me, the Nord Stage Compact is a stunning organ!

To accompany the organ section is a stunning rotary speaker effect coupled with overdrive and amp simulation. If you want a mellow Jazz organ through to heavy 'Deep Purple' type sounds the the Nord Stage Compact delivers with 5 stars.

Nord Stage Compact synth section controls

Pad sounds, Bass sounds and lead synth? No problem. The Nord Stage compact also has a synth section just for creating those sounds. The high quality synth sounds are easily accessed and modified using the real-time controller knobs on the top panel of the Nord. Volume, LFO, Timbre, ADSR control and more are supplied for instant control of synth sounds. The Stage Compact offers a small package but a mighty punch!

All 3 sound sections of the Stage Compact can be played individually, split, or layered up to twice each (6 sections of sounds). This can be done in a flash when playing live or set-up in the memory positions for instant recall. If you make a change and forget what you have done then don't worry! In the live memory mode you can make any change to your sounds without having to think about what you have done because the Nord Stage Compact will remember it in real-time.

It is a tough life for the gigging musician. Having to modify sounds in real-time is generally a no go zone which is useless when you need to make changes in your environment. The Nord Stage Compact breaks the rules by having possibly the best live control of any product on the market. Lots of top panel controls, neatly laid out can be tweaked in an instant without glitching your sound.

Assigned features to controllers is so easy now and can be done live no problem! Want a sound bringing in on aftertouch? No problem.. By pressing the aftertouch button and simply turning a knob the value is assigned to the aftertouch. The aftertouch can be set to bring in other sound, control LFO and more which is absolutely essential for the gigging musician. Even the modulation wheel can be assigned in the same way. The Nord Stage Compact is quite possibly the best live piano ever!

Stunning effects

The Nord stage compact piano houses a 3 section effects block along with Reverb and compression control. This is all easily accessed live for full adjustment to your sound. A 3 band EQ is also supplied to adjust the sound however you need it.

Wah, delay, Chorus, flanger and many more effects are provided in the Stage Compact effects section. Any sound section can be assigned to each effect block to create the perfect sound for your needs. There is also an amp/ compression section which offers stunning biting overdrive and amp simulation.
